The Pride celebration continues this weekend in Jersey City

JC Pride Month continues with more events this weekend by the Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival, Hudson Pride Center, and other Jersey City organizations including the Jersey City Free Public Library and Canco Park Conservancy.

Light-Up Pride Night Ride

Come celebrate JC Pride with Bike JC in this special ride celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival on Friday, Aug. 13. Riders are encouraged to decorate and light up their bikes in honor of the festivities. Riders gathers at 7:30 p.m. and roll out at sunset.

You can get tickets at https://bit.ly/3yE0Qrl. There is a $5 suggested donation for this ride. Donations will help support the festival programming and a portion will go to the Hudson Pride Center.

Only riders with tickets will be allowed to join the ride for this special event. Those who need a free ticket can contact Eddie Baez at ebaez@jerseycitypride.com to request one.

Another part of the Light-Up Pride Night Ride will feature the unveiling of “We Are Everywhere,” a pride exhibit featuring eight local queer artists and Gilbert Baker, who conceived a flag that features a “rainbow of humanity” motif to represent the community’s diversity.

Artists include Beth Achenbach, Charl Kroeger, Isabelle Duverger, K BROWN, Katie Niewodowski, Melissa Ulto, Miguel Cardenas, Tiffany DiGiacomo. There will also be performances by Ariel Guidry, Lillian Bustle, and Michael Browne at 9 p.m. The Project is sponsored by JC Public Library.

Drag story hour

Drag Queen Story Hour will be at Canco Park on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. The family event will feature special guest Lady Keyonte.

The event will also include a sing along and a giant bubble workshop. Tickets can be found at https://bit.ly/3s4ZTGd.

Jersey City Pride Bar Crawl

The 6th Annual Jersey City Pride Bar Crawl takes place on Saturday, Aug. 14, from 2:30 to 9 p.m. and will be hosted by Lillian Bustle. The walking tour through downtown Jersey City will feature stops with at four local bars.

The route will include: Registration and Stop 1: PINT, 34 Wayne St., 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Stop 2: Gringo’s, 12 Coles St., 4:30 to 6 p.m.; Stop 3: Hard Grove, 284 1st St., 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Stop 4: Six 26, 128 Christopher Columbus Drive, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

There will be drink specials and prizes at each location. You can pre-register on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3fOlpd9. You may register at any one of the bars during the crawl and proceeds will benefit Hudson Pride Center.

Silent DISCO at Canco Park

Dance the evening away at Canco Park at this year’s Silent Disco on Saturday, Aug. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be three channels to tune in to with a live DJ. You can even bring your own music and headphones, but only the headphones at Canco Park will be able to tune into the DJs.

To ensure that you get your headphones, it is advised to arrive early. A valid credit card and valid Photo ID are needed as collateral for the $5 headphone rental. Failure to return headsets will result in a charge of $100.

Food Trucks will also be in attendance. Silent Disco is sponsored by Canco Park Conservancy with Sawyer Smith Residential. Canco Park is located at 47 Dey St., Jersey City. You can find tickets at https://bit.ly/2U2SKcI.

Vogue Ball in Lincoln Park

In honor of Jersey City/Hudson Pride, the first Vogue Ball in Lincoln Park will take place on Sunday, Aug. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m

A live Vogue battle on a mobile stage will feature pop up drag and queer performances. There will also be categories for the public to walk in. Ball in the Park will take place across from the Gallo Building.
